I've tried numerous settings on both the client-side (ssh), and the server-side (sshd).

Filezilla keeps disconnecting from server password#

The error message is always: client_loop: send disconnect: Broken pipe
Filezilla keeps disconnecting from server how to#
I am trying to understand the cause for this, but the primary question here is how to prevent the SSH disconnects. For this reason, I think the cause is the RPi, and not the Macbook, but I am keeping an open mind.

professional (Computer Engineer) working in a private company, a blogger, a father and a husband.SSH connections from a Macbook (Catalina - the SSH Client) to an RPi 4B (Buster, Linux v 4.19.97-v7l+ - the SSH Server) are reliably dropped at random times, but SSH connections from the same Macbook to an Ubuntu Server (18.04 LTS - another SSH Server) are never (hardly ever) dropped. Keep in mind that FileZilla will also automatically disconnects itself after it is finished downloading. But looking around the internet, FTP keep-alive seems to be communicating to the server not to terminate the connection. This setting has no description unlike "Timeout". It could be because the computer is idle for more than 15 minutes. But I am pretty that the internet was not disconnected. I wonder why FileZilla disconnects itself, maybe my computer's connection has gone for more than 20 seconds while I am gone. To prevent FileZilla in disconnecting itself you need to disable it by setting “Timeout in seconds” to “0”

Its description reads: "If no data is sent or received during an operation for longer than the specified time, the connection will be closed and FileZilla will try to reconnect". In the "Timeout in seconds" you can set it to "0" to disable it. I did a second look on the settings and I found out two settings that is somewhat related to being online. Looking at the settings I could not find any "direct" settings that let FileZilla online all the time (including during idle time and or the screen is locked). But to my surprise when I unlocked my computer, I found out that FileZilla disconnects itself.
Filezilla keeps disconnecting from server download#
I left the computer feeling confident that FileZilla will continue to download without interruption. Before I left my computer, I did lock it pressing "Winkey + L" on the keyboard. In my case I went out of the office during break time. For those who are using FileZilla for uploading and downloading files on FTP servers you may find it annoying that it disconnects automatically after a period of time (especially when the computer is idle).
